IGC ANNUAL PLANT SALE-- Members Info

It’s time to start getting ready for our annual plant sale— Pam Low and I are happy to be co-chairing the sale again! Our plant sale will be on May 20, from 9am-12pm on the Hall Haskell Green. As a reminder, this is an all hands on deck project! All members are expected to donate at least 20 plants to the plant sale (or to make a cash contribution in lieu of an in-kind donation). Members are also expected to volunteer if they are available.

Plants:

- Please dig your plants two weeks in advance of the plant sale (ie by May 6) to ensure we have happy, healthy plants to offer at the sale.

- Please make sure to label your plants. Instructions for labeling and sample labels are available on the Ipswich Garden Club Blog.

Volunteer Signup

If you have not done so already, please sign up to volunteer on the Google Signup Sheet (some of you told me you could come help set up Friday but I can’t remember who! So please add your names). If you need help signing up, feel free to call/email me

If you want to be listed as a “horticultural expert” who is available to answer questions, please note that on the signup sheet, so other volunteers can steer folks towards you for questions.

If you need help digging up plants, please let me know and we will find you some helpers!

Supplies:

- Pots: Elaine will send a follow up email about pots. If you have pots you can donate to other members, please let me know!

- Tongue depressors for plant labels: Will be available for pickup on my stoop (23 Pleasant St)— please let me know when you’re coming so I can make sure there are enough out there.

- Dirt: We won’t be providing dirt this year, as we haven’t heard enough interest from members.

Friday, May 19: Setup on the Hall Haskell Green

- If you’ve volunteered to set up tables, please arrive at 1pm

- Plants may be dropped off any time after 2pm on Friday. Please make sure plants are watered and labeled when you drop them off.

- Please drop your plants at the appropriately-labeled table (not in the center of the green). If you’re not sure which table your plant belongs on, ask one of your fellow members! Plan to stay 30 min to an hour to help label the plants.

- If you have a wheelbarrow we can use, please drop it off at the green after 2pm.

- If you have plant trays/boxes we can use to pack customers’ plants, please drop them off when you bring your plants!

- We’ll be heading to True North for pizza and beer/wine after set up, please join us!

Saturday, May 20: Plant Sale!

- Please arrive at 8am for last minute preparations

- Plant sale begins at 9am

- Rain date is Sunday, May 21. But hopefully it won’t rain!

- Please plan to stay through breakdown (approx. 1 or 2 pm, more hands will make it go faster!)

Please let me know if you have any questions! Looking forward to a great plant sale this year!

Best,  Julia
