Who We Are

We are a non-profit group of 50 active members and 15 sustaining members who share a love of horticulture, a concern for the environment, and a commitment to Ipswich.
 

Our Current Activities


The Ipswich Garden Club promotes interest and provides educational programs in horticulture, supports conservation efforts, and assists in beautifying the Town of Ipswich. Our activities include:

   Educational programs on gardening, conservation and garden related arts (monthly September through April)

    Holiday decorations for town buildings and Market St. island

    Field trips around New England

    Garden tours

    Town Beautification:
    • Planting and maintenance of town traffic islands- Market Street Square,Skillman Islands
            
    • North Green Butterfly Meadow, planting and maintenance

     • Erosion protection and beautification project at Pavilion Beach with native plantings

     • Vivian Endicott Garden at the Hall-Haskell house, planting and maintenance

     • Winthrop School Arbor Day and Bulb Planting Initiative with all Ipswich Public Schools

    • Tree plantings and Monitoring of Elms around town

    • Town Wharf restoration- stairway and plantings

    • Annual Plant Sale



Activities over the past 84 years 

Established in 1927, the Club has a long and rich history. Our motto, "Rien sans Peine"--nothing without effort--reflects the Puritan work ethic handed down by those who settled Ipswich in the 17th century.
