2022 IGC Annual Plant Sale

2021 Plant Sale Set Up

Because of a threat of heavy rain, the 2018 Plant Sale was held in Boone Hall  at the Ascension Church.

Dear Garden Club friends,

This is just a quick note about 3 things for our 2018 Sale:

1.Shifts for the day of the sale. At the plant sale, we need all the members to staff the tables and help the cashiers, but not all at the same time! Please let me know which shift you prefer. If you don't have a preference, please let me know that you can work either shift, and I will get back to you to tell you which shift we need more people for.

8:30 to 10:45
10:45 to the end of clean-up (probably 12:30 or 12:45)

I know most of you will be there the whole time anyway, but it is nice to have some time when you are not responsible for standing at a table so you can buy plants and visit, and it is very important to have a group of people explicitly designated for clean-up.

2. Pots. If you need pots, please tell Susan Stone how many and what sizes, and she can leave them out for you in her drive.

3. Digging and soil. If you need help digging, or if you would like to help others dig and pot up plants (I always enjoy working in someone else's garden - I learn so much!), please contact Susan Stone. If you are bringing a ton of plants (more than 25) and would like some soil delivered for filling holes, please contact Susan.

In case you missed the annual meeting, here are a few notes:

Drop off plants Friday afternoon 3-5 p.m..
Rain location is Ascension Church; you'll get an email on Friday if the location changes due to rain.
If you need a chair, please bring one.
Bring vases to sell.
Bring plant trays if you have them.
If you have any questions or suggestions, ask Lauren, Susan, or me.
The labels are on the blog; at the top right on the home page, click on Annual Plant Sale; then look below the photo of the labels, and click on the purple text  to open the document.

Thank you all for your contributions of great plants! The sale is always so much fun!

Carol

Looking back at 2013

2013 Plant Sale Success... words from Maureen:

"Bravo to the incredible teamwork of the Plant Sale Committee led by Co-chairs Joyce Kippin and Connie Price. The electric energy, spirit and “can do” attitude brought an enormous array of stunning plants to the sale.  As Joyce says, “The geese are “honking” with encourage-ment.” The preparations started early with a label-making party held at Susie Glessner’s home in January. Susie Winthrop became the keeper of the labels which appeared at the Annual Meeting for anyone to take. Thanks to Gail and Johanna for their contribution of more precise listing for the plant labels.  Yes Gail, we still want those garden gloves to sell. Carol Williams and Susie Glessner shared responsibilities between the dig day schedule and traveling to Corliss for that rich soil for each dig day. Thanks to Paula Jones for designing the plant sale poster which turns out to be a work of art each year. Laurie McAleer had new numbers installed on the banner and took care of the town requirements to have the banner hung for all to see. A huge bushel of thanks to Joyce Kippin for her grown-with-love heirloom tomatoes. So many of them! She has earned the title of "the tomato lady". Thanks to the Plant Sale Committee members Nancy Howard and Deb Trevarrow for all they did to make the sale a success. Many thanks to all the members who attended the plant sale as well as the day before to help and assist the set up. Thanks to Annie Pulver for thrilling the children with her face painting designs. The families look forward to it each year. Carol Grady was instrumental in organizing the quartet for everyone’s enjoyment--a first at the plant sale and hopefully not the last. Thank you Carol! Thank you to Therese for creating recipe cards on the day of the sale to accompany herbs at the herb table. Thank you to Barbara Monahan for sharing her knowledge of plant material at the table. The cashiers Deb Trevarrow, Allison Kemmerer, and Lynda Mathey were busy tallying up each purchase as well as our treasurer, Laurie McAleer counting and depositing the receipts of the day.  The grand total was $5,825.55."
